Overview

Stage 1) The scooter is selected and disassembled. All body panels placed into an acid tank or media blasted where the old paint and 40 years of built-up is removed. The frame is then checked for straightness and if required is re-aligned. The main body is checked for damage, dents and rust holes. If required the floor section is cut out and a new one welded, excess welding is ground off to give a perfect join. All other holes, for example previous accessories holes are welded over. The frame is checked and if required further light blasting is done to give a clean metal finish. This stage can take approx 4 weeks but longer if more work is required.

Stage 2) All body parts are send to our paintroom where they are immediately epoxy acid etched, this is a special undercoat applied to the bare metal. Acid etch primer firstly etches into the metalwork sealing the bare metal and acting as a bonding agent between metal. Zinc primer is then applied, this is an anti rust treatment this is very tough and durable. The paint colours are then applied using the latest water based or 2K paint systems depending on the colour required. The final clear coats are applied to give a deep clear shine. The paint work is then highly polished. Fork, stand, wheels and hubs are also painted/powder coated silver. This stage can take approx 4 weeks but longer if more work is required.

Stage 3) The painted parts are brought down to our assembly room where the scooters are rebuilt. When new parts are available we will use them. This includes cables, wiring loom, levers, speedo, lights/lenses, seat, floor strips, front & rear suspension, front wheel hub assembly, hubs, rims, tyres, tubes and of course the new 5 port reedvalve engine. You can view this stage on our webcam where you can see your scooter for the first time. This is accessable via our Customer Login area where we also update you on the progress of your build. Once the scooter is assembled we bench test it, all cables, nut bolts and connections are checked. The scooter is then road tested and any final adjustments are done. This stage can take approx 4 weeks but longer if more work is required.

Stage 4) The scooter is then ready to be moved to our test area where the final stage is done. Here it is bench and road tested again ready for mot. Once all scooters are checked and mot certificates issued we can apply to DVLA to register the scooter. We have to submit all documents, including an age dating certificate to prove its year of manufacture for DVLA to issue the correct age related number plate. They may request a vosa inspection, which requires us to transport the scooter to the closest VOSA office. We have to apply for appointment which is held just one day in a week. This can take 2 weeks whilst make arrangements. Once inspected they inform DVLA and as long as DVLA are happy with the supporting documents they will issue the number allowing us to have the number plate made. Accessories for example chrome racks, exhausts or seats are then fitted and we do the final PDI ( pre delivery inspection ). We can then make arrangement to deliver the scooter to you. This stage can take approx 4 weeks but longer if an inspection is required.

Stage 5) You scooter is then ready. If we are delivering we combine a minimum of 4 scooter at a time onto our delivery van. We have to make arrangements with all new owners to deliver the scooter on a convenient time and day. This way we can delivery to anywhere in the UK for the low price we do. A single delivery would be 4 times the cost, so as you can image this takes planning. Scooters are delivered ready to ride, all you need to do is arrange the insurance.

Please note, we have an allocated waiting list for our restorations working through each build until completed. As a guide the lead time on restorations from ordering is approx 6-9 months however this can depend on the requirements of each build.
